These are absolutely insane movies that exist so that people will watch them at least half ironically and post about them online. They are the cinematic equivalent of a new T-shirt bought from Instagram. M3GAN the same goes for the genre—the trailer seems fine-tuned to go viral on Twitter—but it’s so well done, it transcends its flashy genre to become something of a grandeur. than.
the plot of M3GAN is a combination of evil AI and evil doll stories. She walks around, looking like a copy of Renesmee from Sunset series and the scary Bright Twins. She’s the most charismatic horror comedy villain since Clever Gremlin In Gremlins 2. (And like Gremlins 2, M3GAN managed to wink and be self-aware without being creepy—a feat harder than one would expect.)
