macOS Monterey 12.2 Causing sleep-draining issues for some users
macOS Monterey 12.2 causes battery drain while in sleep mode for some users. The issue seems to be affecting users as Bluetooth accessories frequently wake up the MacBook, resulting in battery drain. Several users have reported battery drain issues on social media, including Reddit and Twitter. However, the issue doesn’t seem to affect everyone who updated to the latest version of macOS released last week. It’s also unclear if the battery drain issue is limited to specific MacBook models.
Like the first time report by MacRumors, some users who have updated to macOS Monterey 12.2 are reporting battery drain issues when using sleep mode.
Some users have been trying to figure out the problem and reported that it can be caused by Bluetooth accessories causing “DarkWake from Deep Idle” which causes the device to wake up from sleep mode and eventually drains the battery.
User reports show up on Reddit and Twitter suggests that the problem is not limited to a specific MacBook model and is affecting devices based on both the Intel and M1 platforms.
Apple have not seen the problem. However, some users claim that the problem can be resolved temporarily by turning off Bluetooth or disconnecting all connected Bluetooth accessories.
Gadgets 360 has reached out to Apple for comment on the reported issue. This article will be updated as the company responds.
The macOS Monterey 12.2 update has fixed bugs and security updates. However, it does not include any new features or notable changes changelog provided by the company.
Last week, Apple released first beta of macOS Monterey 12.3. That build includes support for General control and new emojis. However, the beta update clashed with services including Dropbox and OneDrive.
