Madhya Pradesh: Two tribal men beaten to death on suspicion of cow slaughter | Bhopal News
SEONI: Two tribal men have died after they were allegedly assaulted by a group of 15-20 people on suspicion of killing beef in Madhya PradeshSeoni County, police said on Tuesday. They said another person was injured in the incident.
The complainant in the case and the opposition Congress in the BJP-ruled state have accused the attackers of belonging to Bajrang Dal.
An official said about 20 people were registered in connection with the incident, which occurred at Simaria, of the Kurai police station between 2:30 a.m. and 3 a.m. Monday, including six with murder charges.
Following the incident, a group led by National Assembly lawmaker Arjun Singh Kakodia began protesting on the Jabalpur-Nagpur highway. Superintendent of Police Seoni and other officials visited the protest site.
“Two tribal men have died. It is reported that a group of 15-20 people went to the victim’s house, accused them of killing a cow and assaulting them. Complainant Brajesh Batti, who was injured in the incident, said the crowd beat Sampat Batti, a resident of Sagar and Simaria, Dhansa with sticks when he arrived, and he was also assaulted.
MLA Kakodia parliament, who sat on the ‘dharna’ to protest the incident, claimed the attackers included Bajrang Dal members and called for a ban on right-wing attire.
He said the relatives of the victims should be given Rs 1 each as well as government jobs.
Meanwhile, Congress has demanded a high-level investigation into the incident and swift action against the perpetrators.
Parliament Speaker Kamal Nath tweeted, “I request the government to take strict action against the perpetrator by announcing a high level investigation into this incident. The man was injured at government expense. .”
Nath said relatives of the deceased and local residents have claimed Bajrang Dal was involved in the incident.
The former CM said the NCRB (National Crime Records Bureau) data showed the MP ranked first among the states for crimes against tracing.
