Sports events will be allowed to have 25% capacity, the rules say.

The state government announced on Friday that gatherings of 5 or more people will not be allowed in Maharashtra between 9pm and 6am, as coronavirus cases recorded the strongest increase. for nearly two months amid the spread of the highly infectious variant of Omicron.
The new guidance, which will take effect from midnight – seven days before New Year’s Eve, restricts 100 people to indoor weddings and to no more than 250 people or 25%, whichever is less, to outdoor weddings.
Indoor venues such as gyms, spas, hotels, theaters and cinemas will be allowed to operate at 50% capacity while sporting events will be allowed at 25% capacity, regulations said rule.
The restrictions were announced on a day when Mumbai reported 683 new COVID-19 cases, the highest since October 6, while Maharashtra added 1,410 new cases – the steepest increase since October 27.
The number of Omicron infections reported in Maharashtra rose to 108 on Friday with 20 cases of the new coronavirus variant coming to light, officials said.
As many as 54 out of 108 patients have been discharged.
Eleven new cases have been reported from Mumbai, six from Pune, two from Satara and one from Ahmednagar.
Of these new patients, 15 had a history of international travel, one patient had a history of domestic travel while four others had close contact with them.
One patient was a minor while six were over 60 years old. All new patients are asymptomatic.
The statement added that 12 of these patients were fully immunized, 7 were unvaccinated and one was ineligible for vaccination (under 18 years of age).
The report of 14 cases came from the National Institute of Virology and the remaining case from the Indian Institute of Science, Education and Research, Pune.
To date, Mumbai has recorded 46 cases of Omicron, including those found after screening the film at Mumbai International Airport. The town of Pimpri-Chinchwad has reported 19 cases, the rural area of Pune 15 and the city of Pune 7 cases.
As of December 1, 2021, 1,63,553 international visitors to Mumbai, including 23,933 from ‘at-risk’ countries.
