Malik Scott Wants Wrath Vs. Winner Usyk Faces Deontay Wilder
Via Sam Volz: Coach Malik Scott wants the winner of the undisputed clash between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk to face former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.
Considering that Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs) is supposed to beat IBF, WBA & WBO champion Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs), it’s unlikely he’ll be willing to agree to a fight with Wilder ( 43-2-1 , 42 KOs).
Fury has beaten Wilder twice, and there’s no need for a fourth fight between them.
Fury’s pick after Usyk
1. Joe Joyce
2. Daniel Dubois
3. Anthony Joshua
4. Andy Ruiz Jr.
5. Deontay Wilder
Tyson has said that if he wins against Usyk, he wants to take on WBO interim champion Joe Joyce in 2023.
If Fury gets through that fight safely, he will need to decide whether to defend against WBA-mandated Daniel Dubois or possibly fight Anthony Joshua.
A rematch with Usyk could also happen at some point for Fury, depending on how competitive their fight is and how much money it brings in. If the match attracts an unreasonable amount of PPV buying, then the chance of a rematch increases.
Fury vs Usyk winners determined by skills
Malik Scott believes Fury’s fight against Usyk depends on who is the better fighter. Scott feels that Fury’s size won’t be a factor in this fight because Usyk has the technical skills to take that out and defeat him.
Fury has become predictable over the past three years with the way he hugs his opponents in a bear hug and then leans against them. He became completely predictable and simple.
To beat Usyk, Fury will need to have more variation in his game than just the one move he makes with his grab and tilt approach.
“Oleksandr says he wants to split 50-50, and they are fighting in England. Tell me about it,” Ellie Sechback said NEWSTalk to Coach Malik Scott about the Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk fight in March or April.
“This is Fury, right? Honestly, I just want to see these wars happen, and I want Deontay [Wilder] to get its winner. 50-50? No,” Malik Scott said of Fury-Usyk.
“50-50,” Scott said when asked who won the fight between Usyk and Fury. “I bet if I asked you why Fury beat Usyk, you’d say it’s because of Fury’s size. I think This fight will depend more on boxing skill than size.
“The size can be handled appropriately if someone knows how to handle it, but I think that fight will depend on actual skill. Usyk will have to punch up, and Fury will go up. Especially when you’re punching down a slick punch to the south,” Malik said.
