And after a 0-0 draw with Newcastle on Sunday, England The left-back reminded the entire team that Ten Hag will not hesitate to coordinate with his team during Tottenham’s visit to Old Trafford on Wednesday.
“The good thing with this manager is that if you don’t play well you don’t play,” Shaw said.
“It wasn’t like that before but I think the good thing about this manager is that he always keeps people on their base.
“He makes sure everyone is 100% every day. If you’re not there you’re not playing. That’s a positive thing.”
Shaw was one of the players who had a spell on the sideline after he was dropped following a 4-0 loss last Brentford in August.
He was replaced with a summer signing Tyrell Malacia but regained his place in the last two matches of the tournament with Everton and Newcastle.
“I don’t really need him [Ten Hag] say anything to me, I know, I know the first two games weren’t good enough,” Shaw added.
“I fully understand that it’s time for me to leave the team. The results were bad, my performance wasn’t good enough.
“I just have to keep working hard every day in training so the manager can see I’m working hard. I’m just waiting for my chance and have to save my time because the team is working. well and we are winning.
“For me, it’s all about consistency and I just have to keep working hard, stay focused and give all I can to the team.”
After the draw with Newcastle, United face two important matches against Tottenham and Chelsea this week.
Playing against the top two opponents for six days over a four-day period will be a test of how far the team under Ten Hag has come, but Shaw said there are already clear signs of progress.
“It takes some time, but there are very positive signs at the moment and we, as players, can see that in our daily training with him,” he said. .
“The meetings we have are very active; it’s the start of something new, so things like this take time.”
