Man United’s Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho have ‘a lot of work to do’ to attend the World Cup
England manager Gareth Southgate said Manchester United Non-national players have “a lot of work to do” to get back into goal for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
While defender Luke Shaw injured, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho not selected due to poor form, discarded Harry Maguire as the only League player on their team to attend their Nations League match against Hungary on Tuesday.

Rashford and Sancho have fallen out of favor since England were defeated by Italy in last year’s Euro 2020 final, but Southgate said last month they still have enough club games to show his quality and change his mind ahead of the World Cup in November.
Both strikers were absent for the final three Premier League games of the season as the club finished sixth, missing out on Champions League spots.
Asked if United’s players would be fresher next season without a Champions League spot, Southgate told reporters: “We’re alone. They have a lot of work to do. to return to the squad.
“I think the lower the load the less risk of injury of course and hope that the players can be a bit sharper but there’s no way of knowing. Some players are at their best when They’re on pace.”
Rashford scored just four goals in 24 Premier League games last season as he was plagued by injuries and poor form, while Sancho scored just three in his first season at United.
