Manchester United Sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager, Michael Carrick taking on team responsibilities

Manchester United have sacked manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, a day after the club suffered a humiliating defeat to Watford in the Premier League. The club made the announcement in an official statement on Sunday. United also announced that Michael Carrick, who was a member of Solskjaer’s coaching staff, will take charge of the team before an interim coach is appointed by the club. “Manchester United announces that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has left his role as manager,” United’s statement read. “Ole will always be a Manchester United legend and it is with regret that we have come to this difficult decision,” the club added.
“While the past weeks have been disappointing, they shouldn’t obscure all of the work he’s done over the past three years to rebuild the foundation for long-term success.
“Ole departs with the sincerest thanks for his tireless efforts as Manager and our best wishes for the future. His place in history. the club will always be secured, not only because of his story as a player, but also as a great man and a Manager who has given us many great moments. He will forever be welcome back to Old Trafford as part of the Manchester United family.
“Michael Carrick will now be in charge of the team for upcoming matches, while the club will appoint an interim coach until the end of the season.”
