Master Chief Just Lost His Virginity In Halo TV Series, And Fans Are Divided
Warning: This article contains some spoilers for Halo: The TV Series Episode 8!
Live-action Halo The series has made some significant changes to the long-standing mythology of the game, and Episode 8 ushered in what could be the biggest twist ever. Master Chief seems to have just lost his virginity.
This is a pretty big departure from the Halo games, where John-117 is depicted as an ascetic super-soldier who only displays emotional attachment to his three-dimensional companion Cortana, and likely never had sex due to being kidnapped Spartan programmer as a child. The series didn’t exactly follow that path throughout Season 1, with Pablo Schreiber’s Master Chief often takes off his helmet and deal with the memories and emotions that surge after encountering a Forerunner artifact.
That artifact also happened to be the reason for John’s sexual encounter in Episode 8. The series introduced an entirely new character in Charlie Murphy’s Makee, a human being abducted as a child by the Covenant and raised as a child. to a position of power in it. alien theocracy. John and Makee appear to be the only two beings in the galaxy that can interact with artifacts. After experiencing a shared vision of the mysterious Halo station in Episode 6, the two characters have to give in to the hormonal rush and sex in Episode 8. And just to make things even more weird, Cortana tracked the whole time.
This plot change has been the source of some criticism and outrage from Halo fans. Not only taking the idea of Master Chief having sex like a hard pill to swallow, Episode 8 also used the Master Chief/Makee romance to set the stage for the show’s version of Fall of Reach. Though torn between her beginning love for John-117 and her loyalty to the Covenant, Makee ultimately chose the latter and signaled Reach’s position for the Covenant. For making the mistake of trusting Makee, Master Chief is about to shed a lot of blood.
Forbes writer Paul Tassi To sum up the questionable reaction some are feeling to the episode:
Look, I don’t care if this is a spoiler or not, the whole world has to know:
In this week’s episode of Halo, Master Chief has sex with a human covenant spy prisoner while Cortana watches, and it looks like it will trigger the events that lead to Reach’s demise.

IGN is positive about the new episode and revisionists were acknowledged in the Fall of Reach plot setting. Our review said, “It’s an abrupt change for both characters, not to mention the fact that Halo fans aren’t really used to seeing Chief show affection to anyone other than love. his pure love for Cortana, but it’s a development that fits the context of Episode 6’s dramatic ending. The two characters have shared what equates to a religious experience, and now they’re dealing with all the hormonal consequences..This episode actually does a surprisingly good job of capturing the full ups and downs of a brief romance without the feeling of collapse. poured hastily or forced.”
