Mauritius metro station built with Indian support, named after Mahatma Gandhi

The government of Mauritius has decided to name one of the country’s major metro stations Mahatma Gandhi Station in tribute to India’s support for the metro project, Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth said on Thursday. .
Mr. Jugnauth said: “I have the honor to inform you that in gratitude for India’s support of the high-speed metro project, my Government has decided to name a one of the major metro stations is Mahatma Gandhi station,” said Mr. Jugnauth. Virtual Narendra Modi on Thursday.
“I am proud to say that this event once again demonstrates the very special and privileged relationship between Mauritius and India,” he added.
The Prime Minister also emphasized that like metro express, the implementation of these projects would not be possible without the Line of Credit and grants provided by the Indian government.
“This again illustrates the deep and continuing commitment to the advancement of Mauritius and the well-being of its people. Bharat ne Mauritius ko pragati ke liye hamesha sahyog diya h iske liye mauirtus ki janta hamesha Bharat ki aabhari rahegni,” he added.
Furthermore, Jugnauth says that adequate housing for families of different income groups is at the top of his government’s agenda. “We have committed to easing housing programs by building more homes and not giving in to the need to provide other amenities. Thanks to a generous $20 million grant from the Indian government and an additional approx. $25 million under the India Line of Credit,” he added.
On Thursday, Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Kumar Jugnauth jointly inaugurated a project of India-supported social housing units in Mauritius. They also launched the Civil Service College and 8 MW Solar Farm projects in Mauritius which are being carried out under India’s development assistance.
