Mazda 6 EV leaked | Car expert
Low resolution images of Mazda's new electric sedan has been leaked on Chinese social network ahead of its impending reveal at this year's Beijing auto show.
The Mazda EZ-6 is an electric sedan model provided by a joint venture company of the Japanese automaker, Changan Mazda. At this stage, it remains unclear whether it previews a global replacement for the Mazda 6.
It appears that the EZ-6 is an improved version of the existing SL03 electric sedan from Changan's Deepal brand.
There's a faux grille up front with a series of LED lights, while the EZ-6 also gets flush door handles, smooth body lines and full-width taillight clusters.
At this stage, Changan Mazda has not confirmed specifications for the EZ-6.
Previous reports speculated there is an extended-range version of the same vehicle called the EZ-60. This is not surprising as the Deepal SL03 is offered with a 1.5 liter petrol range extender powertrain.
Alternatively, the EZ-60 could be an SUV, based on Mazda's existing naming structure.
At this stage, it is unclear whether the Mazda EZ-6 will be offered outside of China, although Changan Mazda recently confirmed that it is actively looking to promote exports of vehicles made in China , and research overseas cooperation opportunities from other auto manufacturers.
In Europe Mazda recently trademarked the name '6e'further fueling speculation that this new model will replace the aging current generation Mazda 6was first revealed in 2012.
It's unclear if the 6e will be the EZ-6 or a separate vehicle based on the Japanese company's new model SkyActiv Scalable EV Architecture.
Mazda is expected to roll out this architecture between 2025 and 2030.
The company has confirmed “several products” will launch on its new dedicated EV architecture later this decade, with a range of hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric models to follow. on the SkyActiv Multi-Solution Scalable Architecture. .
