Method Man and the stars of ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ talks second season
“Power,” the actor-rapper replied when asked about his character’s motivations. “I think Davis finally wants a seat at the table. He wants to be one of the smartest people in the room, if not the smartest. He’s very ambitious.”
And he’s not the only one.
Season two of the Starz TV series begins Sunday and continues to follow the tumultuous life of Tariq Saint Patrick and the people of his universe.
It is a continuation of the original “Power” and part of the franchise created by Courtney A. Kemp.
She told CNN that the show came in part because Starz wanted a seventh season of “Power” and that wasn’t possible.
“I was like, ‘There’s not another season to tell about this,’ Kemp said. “But there’s a way to keep the story going and explore its different parts and that’s where [“Power Book II: Ghost”] from.
She said that this season will serve “More of the things you like”.
“You’re going to scream on TV,” says Kemp. “Definitely some suspense, some chills, some murder, a little sex. You know, the usual cocktail.”
Shane Johnson and Larenz Tate portray Cooper Saxe and Rashad Tate in the original “Power” and in the sequel, respectively.
The two said that they love to play characters that many viewers love and hate.
“It’s kind of different from my real life, because in real life I’m a nice guy,” Tate said. “I’m fine in real life, so it’s nice to have a good time and play a little tyrant.”
“It’s interesting because the show is built in such a way that the show’s heroes are doing a lot of ‘bad things’ like killing people and things like that,” Johnson said. “I think Cooper Saxe thinks of himself ‘I’m the hero of my own story.’ I deviated a bit and I started to compromise my morals, but I was always after something.”
“Power Book II: Ghost” airs Sunday nights on Starz.
