MG Australia’s supply is improving, 7000 cars will arrive in July
Fast-growing budget-friendly brand MG says it is poised to receive significant shipments from China in the coming months, which will help it clear supply bottlenecks.
While not on the huge waiting list affecting many competitor brands, the recent COVID shutdown in Shanghai still causes a supply chain headache. After all, MG’s parent company is SAIC Motor, headquartered in Shanghai.
“Due to global supply chain issues, some of our vehicle arrival dates may be delayed from what was originally scheduled at the time of order.
MG Motor Australia is currently working actively with our parent company to reduce this delay to an absolute minimum,” the company said this week.
“As disruptions to the global supply chain eases, we will aim to increase production at our manufacturing facilities in an ongoing effort to meet growing customer demand… rest assured that we are doing our best to ensure as little delay as possible.”
It is understood that rolling back the restrictions will bring production back into full swing, which means more MG bestsellers. MG 3 bloom and ZS Small SUV, as well as its growing popularity HS Mid-size SUV.
“MG is still on track to receive significant shipments over the coming months across our range of vehicles in Australia and New Zealand.
A company spokesperson told us this week: “Nearly 7,000 vehicles are expected to arrive in July, adding that MG typically shares ship space with no other brands.
This volume equates to 7 weeks of demand, based on sales figures.
This 7000-unit shipment includes a mix of MG vehicles, including some updated 2023 MG ZS EV electric SUVwill be launched in the market in August.
The MG ZS EV was, before the update, the second best-selling electric car in Australia behind the Tesla Model 3 last year, but competition is intensifying.
MG Australia’s factory-backed division is one of the big success stories of recent times, with outstanding sales growth coming from a low-priced range of thousands of mainstream products. .
So far in 2022 to the end of April, it ranks seventh in the market, with 1,400 sales to date and a market share of 4.7%. It is ahead of brands including Nissan, Subaru, Volkswagen and Honda on the sales charts.
