Picture a station wagon, and the image your brain conjures up might be one of those 1970s wood-paneled barges or a shoebox. Volvo from the 1980s — but perhaps not this classy looking Mini Cooper S Clubman 2024. Despite its small size and bold styling, the Clubman’s rear doors open like a cargo truck to a much larger cargo area than in the rear. Cooper normal hardtop. The 189-hp turbocharged four-cylinder delivers powerful acceleration, and the Clubman inherits aggressive touring style from a lineup known for being fun to drive. If you are looking for maximum practicality Outback Subaru is a better option, but if you can accept the compromise on interior space then Clubman will be much more interesting.
What’s new for 2024?
The Clubman continues through 2024 without any significant changes, and in fact the Untamed Edition launched in 2023 will also continue into the new model year.
Price and which one to buy
Unless you need the All4’s all-wheel drive for inclement weather, we recommend the nicely equipped, front-wheel-drive S Clubman. The Cooper S Clubman rides on 17-inch wheels shod with run-flat tires and boasts automatic LED projector headlights, rain-sensing windshield wipers and heated electrically adjustable side mirrors. The cabin is home to luxuries like heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control and push-button start. You also get keyless entry. This Mini boasts some driver assistance feature as standard, such as forward collision warning and rear parking sensors.
Engine, transmission and performance
All Mini Cooper S Clubman models are equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 189 horsepower. Mini pairs this engine with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and optional four-wheel drive. In our tests, the Cooper S Clubman with the previous-generation eight-speed automatic transmission dash to 60 mph in 6.6 seconds; with all-wheel drive and a six-speed manual, the car takes 7.3 seconds to reach 60. Real-world fuel economy and MPG
According to the EPA, the most efficient Mini Cooper S Clubman manages 25 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway. The four-wheel drive models have had little success in fuel economy, achieving 23 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. During our work with the S Clubman, we observed 27 mpg. Furniture, amenities and merchandise
The Cooper S Clubman offers a cabin with solid build quality and eye-catching design. The display in the center console is housed in a circular housing that mimics the fun round headlights of a car. The cabin looks quaint and upbeat, and the materials are top-notch. Despite the vehicle’s small footprint, there’s still a decent amount of room for passengers in both rows. With all the seats in place, the Cooper S Clubman offers 13 cubic feet of cargo space. This expands to 44 with the rear seats lowered. That’s much less room than you’ll get with some competitors. For example, the Subaru Outback offers 33 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and 76 cubic feet when lowered.
Infotainment and connectivity
A six-speaker AM/FM audio system comes standard, as well as auxiliary input jacks and streaming audio. Plus, all models have Bluetooth connectivity, meaning you can make and receive phone calls without taking your hands off the steering wheel. The list of tech options includes integrated navigation, wireless device charging, and an upgraded Harman/Kardon sound system. Apple CarPlay capability is optional for those who want to easily connect their iPhone to the interface, but Android users are out of luck.
Safety features and driver assistance
Mini has equipped this car with some desirable features driver assistance feature. Unfortunately, however, blind spot monitoring is not among them.
