Techtextil takes place at the end of April in Frankfurt and will have a large participation from VDMA member companies. More than 50 members will present smart technologies for technical textiles in various application areas, seven of which will take place at the VDMA group booth. The focus of exhibitors will be on automation and digitalization.
Techtextil in Frankfurt will have more than 50 VDMA members presenting smart textile technology. VDMA supports industry transformation with advanced manufacturing technology and recycling equipment, leveraging digital tools for efficiency. A panel on April 24 will discuss the impact of digital product passports, while VDMA's young talent fund will award engineers on April 25.
VDMA member companies are ready to support the transformation of the textile industry. This means providing advanced, highly efficient and resource-saving production technologies as well as providing advanced machinery and equipment for recycling. In both cases, digitalization is a means to improve both process efficiency and product quality. Automation and digital tools are also the answer to the growing shortage of qualified personnel. With the help of digital systems, textile manufacturers can optimize and automate their production processes and thus achieve a high level of process reliability and transparency . Automation and digitization of textile machines have been developed and offered to the market.
Digitalization will only work with close cooperation between machinery manufacturers and textile manufacturers. Regarding this issue, VDMA has organized a discussion that will take place at the VDMA group booth (12.0, C55) on April 24, 2:30 – 4:00 pm. The theme of the event is “Product passport – impact on the industry”. The regulatory process for digital product passports for textiles and apparel continues to progress apace. In the current situation, clothing manufacturers in all European countries are expected to require a Digital Product Passport (DPP) from mid-2027.
To discuss the impact of digital product passports on textile machinery manufacturing and the apparel industry, VDMA has invited industry representatives and will welcome Mr. Andreas Schneider from the Global Textile and Apparel Program (GTS) , who played a key role in the development of the DPP in the current CIRPASS project initiated by the EU Commission.
The VDMA group stand will also be a place for junior engineers. On April 25, 4 – 5 p.m., Chairman of the VDMA Young Talent Fund (Walter Reiners Foundation), Peter D. Dornier, will present incentive and sustainable development awards to six young engineers. Prizes will be awarded in the categories of bachelor's thesis and diploma/master's degree.
