More than 54,000 people displaced in Andhra Pradesh due to Cyclone Jawad

As Cyclone Jawad is likely to make landfall in northern Andhra Pradesh on Saturday, the state government has evacuated more than 54,008 people from three districts.
Rescue teams evacuated 15,755 people from Srikakulam district, 1,700 people from Vizianagaram and 36,553 people from Visakhapatnam.
The government has set up 197 relief camps in schools and community halls. Eleven National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) teams were deployed while five State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF) and six Coast Guard teams were deployed.
Village secretaries and district collectors will operate throughout the night.
Up to two helicopters are on standby. Rs one crore has been released to deal with any unforeseen situations.
