This became a pattern: One minute he wasn't wearing his headphones, the next he was. The transition always happens unexpectedly – when I leave the room to shower, apply makeup in the bathroom, or get ready to go out.
One time, after brushing my teeth before going to bed, I walked out into the living room to find him sitting on the edge of the couch, staring into space with the Vision Pro steady on his head. It's frustrating to think that you'll have to spend even more money if you live in a family where many people wear glasses.
I also never had problems using other headsets, like the Meta Quest 2, with glasses on. And so, completely disgruntled, I continued to calibrate the Vision Pro with my glasses. This wasn't easy—the internal eye-tracking cameras sometimes had difficulty determining exactly where my eyes were looking. Some things, like spending time on virtual Mount Hood, watching Spider-Man: No way home in 3D mode and browsing the web on Safari is a breeze. But anything that requires more precise eye tracking, such as navigating VisionOS or trying to play a game, is a problem.
A shared problem
When my boyfriend and I want to share an experience in any way, in any form, we try casting the content to TV Use AirPlay. Unfortunately, a simple task like watching a movie isn't very successful. We gave it a try Mean girlsbut because it's a streaming service, the content is blacked out on both Vision Pro and TV for copyright infringement.
Meanwhile, play a game like Fruit Ninja On the big screen it's only interesting for so long. Every time we want to switch players, we have to switch back and forth between his profile and Guest Mode. I can't help but think back to how easy this process was with a headset like the Quest 2. A few years ago, when my dad, brother and I played The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners Within a few hours together, we could just pass the headsets around and jump into the game without having to switch profiles or fiddle with settings. However, on Vision Pro, my boyfriend and I had to play for a total of 10 minutes before the whole experience started to get boring.
