N Chandrasekaran Reappointed Executive Chairman of Tata Sons for 5 years
New Delhi: Tata Sons on Friday reappointed N Chandrasekaran as Executive Chairman for another five-year term. “Board members commend the performance of the Executive Chairman and unanimously approved the re-appointment of Mr. Chandrasekaran over the next five years,” Tata Sons said in a statement.
“Ratan Tata, who was specially invited to the meeting, expressed satisfaction with the progress and performance of the Tata Group under the leadership of Mr. Chandrasekaran. He proposed to extend his term of office by 5 years. another year,” the statement added.
On being reappointed, Mr. Chandrasekaran said: “It has been an honor to lead the Tata Group for the past five years and I am delighted to have the opportunity to lead the Tata Group for another five years, in the next phase. “
He joined the Tata Sons Board of Directors in October 2016 and was appointed Chairman in January 2017.
Tata Group posted aggregate sales of approximately $103 billion (Rs 7.7 lakh crore) for the financial year ending March 31, 2021.
Recently, Tata Group regained control of Air India after 69 years.
Mr. Chandrasekaran said: “We are delighted to have Air India back in the Tata group and are committed to making the airline a world-class airline.
He also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi before the official handover ceremony.
