NASCAR announces 2023 Cup schedule, largely unchanged
CHARLOTTE, NC — NASCAR release it Calendar 2023 on Wednesdays including previously announced races in the new city center Chicago Street and returned to North Wilkesboro in North Carolina with only a notable date change.
The Cup Series schedule is largely unchanged from the 2022 edition, with 10 of the same playoff tracks, the Clash exhibit once again returning to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and Daytona 500 opening the season on the 19th. February.
The only notable date changes are that the second stop at Richmond Raceway is moved from August to July, and the shared NASCAR and IndyCar weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway is moved from July to August. takes place on Indy’s path.
NASCAR says the February 26 race at Auto Club Speedway in Southern California will be the final leg of its 2-mile route. NASCAR wanted to convert the facility into a short driveway, but the pandemic delayed all progress.
Speedway Motorsports announced last week that it has move the annual All-Star race to the North Wilkesboro . Highwayand the race will take place May 21. Texas Motor Speedway has hosted the All-Star Race for the past two years, and the move to North Wilkesboro leaves Texas with just one Cup race for the first time since 2004.
There will be only two Cup races held on Saturday night next year, at Daytona in August and Bristol in September. Atlanta Motor Speedway will also host one of two Cup races on Sunday night, July 9.
