New Edition and New Kids on the Block brought us all the nostalgia
New Edition and New Kids on the Block performed on stage together for the first time on the American Music Awards stage.
NKOTB, consisting of brothers Jonathan Knight and Jordan Knight, along with Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg and Danny Wood, kicked it off with the 1988 hit “You Got It (The Right Stuff)”.
New Edition members – Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Bobby Brown, Ronnie DeVoe, Johnny Gill and Ralph Tresvant – appeared alongside to perform their first hit, “Candy Girl” from 1983.
Both groups then intermingled into an ensemble of their most popular songs before NKOTB joined the New Edition for the former member’s heavyweight choreography “If This Not Love”.
Wahlberg tweeted about the two groups getting together in November after it was announced that they would be performing at the American Music Awards.
“Ronnie, Bobby Ricky and Mike” with Ralph, Johnny, Donnie, Jordan, Joey, Danny and Jon!, he tweeted. “#NewEdition & @NKOTB share the stage for the first time – EVER! It’s not beyond childhood dreams come true.”
Both groups advertise that they will be touring in 2022. The New Edition will also have a residency in Las Vegas.
