New England Patriots’ Mac Jones does not appear in front of the media after suffering a back injury during loss to Miami Dolphins
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla – New England Patriots midfielder Mac Jones suffered a back injury during Sunday’s 7/20 loss to the team Miami Dolphins and asked to X-ray it after the game.
The team canceled his scheduled press conference, although he will meet with the media mostly on Monday, the Patriots said.
Jones completed 21/30 of the 213 yards, with one touchdown and one interception. He was fired twice, taking a big hit in the second inning in a lightning strike where he found the ball and the Dolphins returned it for a touchdown.
After the game, Jones walked under his strength to the X-ray room, flanked by Patriots security personnel.
He spent about five minutes in the room before heading back to the team dressing room. Shortly after, a Patriots communications official announced that Jones would not be holding his press conference, announcing that he had a back injury.
Jones, who is supported by veterans Brian Hoyer and rookies Bailey Zappeplayed the whole game.
Coach Bill Belichick said he didn’t know if Jones was injured because he wasn’t in the gym. When asked about Jones’ performance, he said: “There weren’t many imperfect passes.”
