New England’s Kendrick Bourne runs through Tennessee’s defense for a second TD
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Wide receiver Kendrick Bourne tight it down the right sideline in making a short pass for an inevitable touchdown 41 yards in the third quarter of the New England Patriots game against the away team. Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
The play came in third and sixth with 5:11 in the inning, giving the Patriots a 26-13 lead. Bourne caught the pass at the 37-yard line, on a shallow cut from left to right, and then did the rest with his feet. Initially, he moved onto the field to make sure he’d knock first, and then put a throw in defense Kristian Fulton as he dashed to the sideline.
At the time, it looked like Bourne’s journey might have come to an end, going out of bounds. But instead, he went up the sideline at the 27-yard line, picking up a half-block from a fellow receiver Jakobi Meyers in process. A stiff arm on the pavement Jayon Brown At the 15-yard line held one last defender as Bourne ran into the late game for his second touch of the day.
With 37 yards after the catch, Bourne scored his second encounter catch this season with 35 yards or more after the catch. The only other players in the NFL this season with more than 35 yards of touchdown after catching Deebo Samuel (49ers) and D’Andre Swift (Lions) – with two children.
