NFL players show off their 2021 ‘My Cause, My Cleats’ footwear
ESPN and the V Foundation are committed to fighting cancer. Week V 2021 is from November 30 to December 30. 12. If you can, support cancer research by visiting V.org/donate.
The NFL’s annual #MyCauseMyCleats weekend has arrived. It’s a weekend of the season where players can wear shoes that aren’t team-specific and in line with NFL rules.
Indianapolis Colts guard Quenton Nelson, a three-time All-Pro player, will support the V Foundation in Sunday’s game against Houston Texas.
Nelson, whose aunt and uncle died of cancer, says he was inspired and motivated by the iconic Jim Valvano “Don’t give up… Never give up” speech by ESPYS. Valvano gave a speech in 1993 while battling cancer. That keynote launched the V Foundation for Cancer Research, in partnership with ESPN.
“Jimmy V’s ‘Don’t Give Up’ speech had a huge impact on my life…”, Nelson told ESPN’s Mike Wells. “Several times a year, my best friends and I get together and have ‘Jimmy V night’ where we drink some beers, cigars, scotch and music until 3 a.m., and we try to try to laugh, think, and cry as Jim said in his speech.”
As an ambassador for the V Foundation and through his own “Stop Cancer” initiative for the V Foundation, Nelson has raised more than $79,000 to find a cure for cancer.
Here are some other cleats the players will be wearing this weekend:
