NISSAN unveiled its 2024 model year version GT-CHEAP top, including two new special edition editions, but don’t expect to see it here.
The update GT-CHEAP has been revealed for the Japanese market, where it will go on sale this year. GT-CHEAP leaving the Australian market in 2021 because it does not meet the new Australian Design Rule (ADR) which imposes stricter lateral impact standards.
Highlights of the updated GT-R 2024 include a new front grille design, improved aerodynamics, and “refined ride quality”. Noise and vibration are also said to be reduced.

Premium version T-Spec
One of the new special edition GT-R models is called the Premium Edition T-Spec. It looks very similar to Model T-Spec was brought to Australia as a special farewell gift.
GT-R Premium Edition T-Spec is equipped with “special suspension” and carbon disc brakes. There are also 20-inch gold forged wheels.
The other new GT-R special edition is called the Nismo Special Edition. It’s naturally based on the more powerful, racing-inspired GT-R Nismo.

Nismo . special edition
The special edition Nissan GT-R Nismo features “refined aerodynamic performance”, a mechanical limited-slip differential for the front axle, Recaro carbon black bucket seats and a Nismo carbon bonnet covered in NACA ducts. .
It also features a range of “high-precision weight-balanced engine parts” including piston rings, connecting rods and crankshafts.
The Nissan GT-R 2024 series is still equipped with the same engine 3.8 liter twin-turbo V6 engine. It also remains mated to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, with drive being routed through an all-wheel drive system.

Nismo . special edition
Power and torque in the regular GT-R remain the same at 419kW power and 637Nm torque, while the GT-R Nismo still produces 441kW and 652Nm. The latter of these models has “Nismo’s special tuning”.
The R35 generation Nissan GT-R was first revealed as a concept in 2001 and entered production in 2007. It was first sold in Australia in 2009 and is offered until 2021, as noted above.
Looking to the future, we know the Nismo division is work on a successor with the current GT-R and it will be available with hybrid and even EV powertrain. It is understood to be still a few years away though.
