Nitish Kumar about Azadi by actor Kangana Ranaut Comments: Let’s make it fun
New Delhi:
Bihar minister Nitish Kumar declined to comment on actor Kangana Ranaut’s provocative comments claiming that India achieved Independence for India in 2014 and not 1947, adding that such statements would ridiculed and ignored.
“How can people announce this. What does it mean? Should we pay attention to it. Should we pay attention to it? Who doesn’t know when we won our Independence These statements are not important In fact, they should be made fun of. “They made it on purpose to attract public attention. I don’t pay attention to such people. I don’t subscribe to these things,” said the minister.
The actor, in a recent TV interview, remarked that India got its freedom in 2014 when Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power and what they got in 1947 was a “game” nonsense” or division.
Ms Ranaut, 34, who was banned on the microblogging platform Twitter for her far-right commentary, has caused controversy in the past.
Several political parties have said that Ms. Ranaut should be charged with treason for defaming India’s freedom struggle and its fighters.
“Regarding Aazadi in 2014, I specifically said the physical Aazadi we can have but the consciousness and conscience of India was freed in 2014… a dead civilization resurrected and spread his wings and now roar and fly high …,” the actor clarifies.
Times Now, which aired the interview, stayed away from the controversy.
“#KanganaRanaut may think that India gained its Independence in 2014 but this cannot be corroborated by any true Indian. This is an insult to millions of freedom fighters. , who have given up their lives so that current generations can live freely and with dignity, the channel said on Twitter on Friday.
