No salary without vaccine certificate, Punjab tells government worker
New Delhi:
Punjab government employees will not receive a salary if they do not present a certificate of vaccination, the state government said in a statement today. A person can be fully vaccinated or have had a single dose, but they will have to upload the certificates to the Punjab government job portal if they want to receive a salary.
The government order, however, does not mention what it is intended to do to unvaccinated employees.
Punjab’s rather strict policy in promoting people to self-immunize comes at a time of heightened concern about the Omicron strain of coronavirus, which is known to be highly transmissible.
The vaccination certificate has to be uploaded to the Punjab government’s iHRMS website which stands for Integrated Human Resource Management System. The software streamlines payroll payments and retirement benefits withdrawals.
Wages are automatically credited only to the employee’s designated bank account, preventing fraud in the distribution of wages.
