In an interview with HT Lifestyle, Medha Singh, Herbal Beauty Specialist and Founder of Juvena Herbals, suggests:

1. Wash your face with a gentle cleanser – Do not use facial cleanser to clean the skin. Use a cleanser with herbal aromas that support your skin’s pH.

2. Using ubtan and a pro-biotic enzyme – Do not scrub with a scrubber. Instead, apply a soft traditional ubtan with dried fruits and herbs to gently exfoliate your skin. 7 minutes is enough for ubtan to work on your skin. Rub gently and do not reverse the direction of hair growth. Apply a pack of pro-biotic enzymes to further exfoliate and boost blood flow, rinse off within 15 minutes.

3. Massage the skin with effective massage cream – Massage your face with an effective amount of massage cream. Do not use oil to massage the skin as it can create friction and heat. Oil massage should only be performed by a therapist. Emulsions/creams are considered best for self-massage of the face.

4. Direction to perform massage – While massaging starts with the neck to promote lymphatic circulation. Also, end the massage with a neck massage for a good detox for your skin. Massage for 2 minutes on the neck. Massage for about 4-5 minutes all over the face. Finish by massaging your neck for a minute.

5. Prebiotic pack application – Apply a good pack of prebiotics to your face and neck for 15 minutes. Do not let the pack dry on your skin.

6. Prepare the eyes – An hour before preparation, place a regular cold/wet cotton swab over the eye and let it sit for 20 minutes.

7. Blink in plain/cold water – Take water in the palm of your hand and blink one eye in it 4-5 times. Do the same for the other eye. Repeat 2 times each. This will release eye strain and fluid retention under the eyes.

8. Use normal tap water to wash the packaging – Wash the bag with normal tap water, do not rub – rub over the bag.

9. Apply moisturizer to damp skin – Always apply Moisturizer to damp skin. This allows the skin to absorb the emollient more effectively.

10. Facial steaming at home once a week – Facials must be done at least once a week on a routine basis to keep your skin healthy. For a face that looks younger at any age, this can do wonders.

Step 1: Double cleaning

First and foremost, make sure that your face is clean and that you remove any dirt, makeup, or product build-up before you begin your facial. Use cleanser or oil first. You then clean with a mild foaming gel and gently cleanse your skin’s surface and remove residue. Don’t worry if you don’t have a cleanser, you can use coconut oil or olive oil.

Step 2: Exfoliate

Use an exfoliator (suitable for your skin type) to remove dead skin cells. Make sure you rub on the nose and chin area to deep clean and get all the blackheads and impurities out of the skin. This step makes the skin brighter. Always clean the surface with warm water. You can exfoliate your face or you can also choose honey with coconut oil or brown sugar with oatmeal.

Step 3: Apply a mask

Masks are essential to nourish the skin and remove all impurities and give the skin a radiant look. Choose the perfect mask based on your skin type. But make sure you leave it on for 10-20 minutes and remove with a damp cloth. You can also make your own face mask at home with ingredients like yogurt, honey, oatmeal, avocado, and papaya.

Step 4: Streaming

Steaming opens pores and helps skin absorb moisturizer (when used in the next step) to hydrate skin. It also makes the skin relax and moist. You can put a few slices of orange, it helps to soften the skin and open the pores.

Step 5: Moisturize and massage

No face is complete without a good massage. Use a product with good moisture to moisten skin and massage in circular motions all over face and neck. It will help increase blood circulation and improve muscle tone, making the skin firm and bright.
