Via Ken Hissner: At Dignity Health Sports Park, Carson, CA, Saturday, during showtime, Sampson Lewkowicz (Sampson Boxing) and Tom Brown (TGB Promotion) in the Main Event presented WBC World Bantamweight champion Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire defended against WBC Interim World Bantamweight Champion.
In the IBF 1st Welterweight Welterweight Championship match, Kudratillo “The Punisher” Abdukakhorov was defeated by Cody “The Crippler” Crowley, who broke free from the tarp.
In the Main Event, WBC Bantamweight champion Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire, 41-6 (27), #117.2, of PH and Las Vegas, NV, played against WBC interim champion Raymart “Assassin” Gaballo, 24-0 (20), #117, of General Santos City, PH, 12 laps.
In the co-feature, IBF Welterweight No. 1 Kudratillo “The Punisher” Abdukakhorov, 18-1 (10), #146.2, of UZB, was upset against southpaw Cody “The Crippler” Crowley, 20-0 (9), #145.4, by Peterborough, Ontario, CAN and Las Vegas, NV, over ten rounds.
In the first round, southpaw Crowley overcame Abdukakhorov with an effective jab and smack on the chin as Abdukakhorov switched from orthodox to southpaw. In the second round, a minute later, Crowley wounded Abudkakhorov with a punch to the chin. At the last minute, Abdukakhorov hit the ball into Crowley’s chin, sending him to the referee Jerry Cantu to count eight penalties.
In the third and fourth innings, Crowley came back well to get past Abudkakhorov, for the most part, chasing him around the ring.
During the fifth round, blood began to flow from Abudkakhorov’s left ear from the left side along with an elbow. Crowley won the round pressing his opponent throughout the round, mostly landing with jabs straight to the chin. In the sixth inning, the cut began to bleed again from Abudkakhorov’s left ear with a right from Crowley’s south.
In the seventh inning, Crowley pinned flat-footed Abudkakhorov at an angle, mostly with headers with a minute left in the round. In the ninth inning, Crowley continued to chase Abudkakhorov, sometimes landing on his head when he stopped. In the tenth and final round, Crowley went on to win all rounds except the knockout round knocking out Abudkakhorov.
Scores are 95-94, 97-92 and 98-91. This writer had it 98-91.
Brandun Lee Ultralightweight Opener, 24-0 (22), #140, of La Quinta, CA, block Juan Heraldez, 16-2-1 (10), #144, of North Las Vegas, NV, at 2 :11 of the seventh inning of a 10.
During the first five rounds, Lee used an effective jab with occasional punches into the chin of Heraldez winning each round. In the seventh inning, a left followed by a right hit Heraldez’s chin and he went down and was signaled by referee Gerald White without scoring.
Former WBO Bantamweight Champion Marlon “Demon Nightmare” Tapales, 35-3 (18), #121 ½, of Kapatagan, PH, stopped Hiroaki Teshigawara, 22-3-2 (15), 121 ½, of Tokyo, JAP, with a score of 0 : 6 second out of 12.
In the first round, Tapales defeated Teshigawara. In the second half, Tapales scored by knock-out without scoring.
