Obi-Wan Kenobi Trailer: Ewan McGregor on the run from the empire, Vader in the Disney series Debuts May 25
Obi-Wan Kenobi – the Star Wars live-action series centered around the famous Jedi master – is just two months away and the first trailer for the series has been released, letting fans know what’s going on. What will happen from the upcoming series. Set ten years after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, the new series will feature plenty of action on the planet Tatooine. The trailer features popular characters from the franchise including Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Vader, and Grand Inquisitor.
The first trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi revealed a huge Imperial stronghold, believed to be the infamous Fortress Inquisitorius, where Jedi-hunting Inquisitors were active. The fortress is part of the game Star Wars Jedi: The Fallen Order. The Inquisitors, who have been shown to be sensitive to force and use lights to illuminate and respond to the Grand Inquisitor, are on the hunt for the surviving Jedi. Obi-Wan Kenobi, played by Ewan McGregor (Moulin Rouge!, Trainspotting), who reprized the original role of the Jedi master in the prequel Star Wars trio, sought refuge on Tattooine to hide from the Empire, and protect young Luke Skywalker.
Meanwhile, the trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi also teased the return of Hayden Christensen (Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, Jumper) as the formidable Darth Vader. Christensen recently disclosure that viewers will see a “very powerful Vader” when the new series premieres on May 25. Vader isn’t the only Empire teased in the trailer – neither is Reva, played by Moses Ingram (The Queen’s Gambit, The Tragedy of Macbeth) and Grand Inquisitor, republished by Rupert Friend (Death of Stalin, Pride and Prejudice) are also hunting the Jedi on Tattooine.
In the new trailer, the Grand Inquisitor is heard explaining that the key to hunting the Jedi is patience. “The Jedi cannot help what they are. Their compassion leaves a mark. The Jedi Code is like an itch, he can’t get away from it,” he said, during an interrogation, while presumably hunting for his exiled Jedi master.
Along with McGregor, Christensen and Ingram, the cast of Obi-Wan Kenobi including Joel Edgerton (The Gift, The Great Gatsby), Bonnie Piesse (Love Eterne, My Husband’s Jump), Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick, Life as We Know It), Indira Varma (Bride and Prejudice, Game of Thrones), O’ Shea Jackson Jr (Ingrid Goes West, Straight Outta Compton), and Sung Kang (The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Bullet to the Head).
Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres in India on May 25th Disney + Hotstar in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.
