Ole Gunnar Solskjaer leaves Manchester United: How social media reacts
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer left the club less than 24 hours later a humiliating defeat 4-1 come Watford on Saturday.
The shock defeat was the last straw for United owners, the Glazer family, as the club confirmed Solskjaer’s departure after a string of five woeful defeats in seven Premier League games.
Former assistant Michael Carrick will now assume caretaker responsibility before the club appoints an interim manager until the end of the season.
Here’s how social media reacted to Solskjaer’s eventual departure.
Former United defender and now pundit Gary Neville has reminded everyone that Solskjaer did a great job initially.
Thank you Ole. You have made us proud. The last two months have been difficult but before that you have restored some soul to the club. ❤️ pic.twitter.com/cseYVIFgqK

But things have gone south, as the statistics prove.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains the highest scoring PL player having all the letters in Goal in his name. You cannot fire it.

Carrick, who was a member of Solskjaer’s coaching staff, will be in charge before the club appoints an interim manager until the end of the season, leading some to question how that works.
Congratulations to Michael Carrick on your appointment as assistant *to* area manager pic.twitter.com/ggHGUmcqqy

Man Utd began to evaluate options seriously after the loss to Liverpool. So not being able to identify a temp, let alone a manager, for more than a month is a remarkable development.

Carrick and *later* were interim managers.
This club is nothing but savings.

And perhaps one player might not be as pleased to see Solskjaer’s back.

Remember when Ole was at the wheel? Or, for that matter, when is Jose Mourinho?

Eight and a half years on, Mourinho – overlooked in 2013 for Moyes (!) and out of favor six months after he signed a new contract in 2018 – is still a long way off. #mufcThe most successful manager of the post-Ferguson era.

So who could be the next to take up the permanent management position? Or at least permanent temporary management?
Roy Keane provisional #MUFC boss is something we all want, right?

An experienced caretaker manager until the end of the season. Have people started linking United with Arsene Wenger?

Con las limitadas opciones que tiene el United para reemplazar a Ole en el banquillo, esta podría ser la mejor 😅 pic.twitter.com/kqFgIqUPen
