OnePlus announced at MWC 2022 on Monday that the company will launch the OnePlus 10 Pro in global markets – including in India – by the end of March 2022. The company also announced that it has plans to launched its most affordable 5G smartphone in India and Europe. later this year, along with new IoT devices. OnePlus revealed that they are working on a smartphone that supports 150W SuperVOOC fast charging and that it will launch in Q2 2022. Interestingly, OnePlus has now clarified that its OxygenOS operating system will share codebase with ColorOS, but will keep the same look and feel when OxygenOS 13 is released. Two Android-based OS skins were previously reported to merge into a unified operating system. Meanwhile at MWC, Oppo introduced a new 240W flash charging technology that can fully charge a phone battery in less than 9 minutes.
Smartphone maker reveals that it will start selling OnePlus 10 Pro in Europe, India and North America in late March. It says that the smartphone generated more than 100 million CNY (about Rs 120) in sales in China, where it launched in January this year.
Meanwhile, OnePlus will launch its most affordable 5G-capable smartphone in India and Europe later this year. The company also announced that it will introduce a new retail model in India that will allow customers to order smartphones online, then pick them up at retail stores after a OnePlus store member set up for them.
OnePlus also revealed that it will launch a new smartphone in Q2 2022 that will support 150W SuperVOOC fast charging. The charging technology, developed by Oppo Research Institute, is said to be able to charge a 4,500mAh battery from 1% to 50% in just 5 minutes. OnePlus says the technology is powered by a custom dual-battery setup, an industry-leading PCB battery protection board, and a highly integrated microcontroller to improve overall charging efficiency.
While OnePlus has announced in September that it will merge OxygenOS and ColorOS As a unified operating system that will be available on both of the company’s devices, OnePlus has now revealed that its OxygenOS 13 will remain a standalone brand property when Android 13 launches. The decision to keep OxygenOS on OnePlus devices was made due to feedback from the community, according to the company. However, OxygenOS and ColorOS will both be developed on the same code base as previously announced, OnePlus has clarified.
On the software front, OnePlus also revealed that it will introduce HyperBoost Gaming Engine, which offers features like GPA Frame Stabilizer to reduce frame rate fluctuations, O-Sync to boost sync speeds up up to six times and GPU Load Control (GLC) for increased display efficiency with up to 36% improved power consumption. HyperBoost Gaming Engine will be introduced as part of an OTA update when the OnePlus 10 Pro launches in India, Europe, and North America. There’s no word yet on whether the feature will be available for older OnePlus devices.
OnePlus’ sister brand Oppo also introduced 150W SuperVOOC charing technology at MWC 2022 on Monday which it is expected to showcase on Oppo’s upcoming flagship phones. The announcement came with a demo of the 240W SuperVOOC fast charging technology that Oppo claims can charge a 4,500mAh battery from 1 percent to 100 percent in about 9 minutes. According to Oppo, the technology is designed with 24V / 10A on USB Type-C, and the company says it has used three charging pumps for faster charging. The power supply to the handset can be converted to 10V/24A using a supported adapter, according to the company.
According to the company, the 240W SuperVOOC applies five safety protections and uses a custom control chip to control voltage, current and temperature on the smartphone. Oppo is also relying on a custom battery safety monitoring chip that can assess and monitor whether the phone’s battery has been damaged by any external force while in use. This technology is also combined with a temperature protection feature that monitors the 13 temperature sensors on the phone to monitor for overheating. Oppo has yet to reveal when the technology will go on sale or which phones will come with 240W charging.
