Opposition rejects 4-Party Meeting to end parliamentary deadlock
New Delhi:
The government’s efforts to initiate reverse-channel negotiations to resolve the ongoing impasse in parliament could run into a wall, messages from leaders of Congress and the House of Representatives said. Trinamool suggested. The opposition, they have made clear, stands together and has no intention of budging at the request to revoke the suspension of 12 MPs who have been fined for “unruly behaviour”.
Sources said on Friday, Rajya Sabha President Venkaiah Naidu had asked the opposition and government to meet and reach an understanding on the issue that has plagued the Winter Session since it began on the 29th. 11. Tonight, four people have sent invitations to talk. parties with the MLA were suspended by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi.
The opposition will meet on Monday to decide on their stance.
But the trajectory became clear when Opposition Leader in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjuna Kharge wrote to Mr Joshi, calling his invitation to just four Opposition parties “unfair and regrettable”.
“All Opposition parties unite in protest against the suspension of 12 MPs. We have demanded since the evening of November 29 that Speaker Raiya Sabha or Leader of the House of Representatives Shri Piyush Goyal phone the leaders. Leaders of the Opposition discussed to break the imp the opposition parties are unfair and regrettable,” wrote the senior leader of the National Assembly.
Earlier on Sunday, Derek O’Brien, the leader of Trinamool in Rajya Sabha, tweeted:
STUNT Monday morning from a Government. who doesn’t want # Congress to operate.
The government called on the leaders of the 4 Oppn parties with 12 RS MPs to have been arbitrarily suspended.
Govt eliminated 10 other Oppn parties.
Can’t stunt.
ALL OPPORTUNITIES are clear: first revoke the arbitrary suspension

Speaker Rajya Sabha earlier emphasized the need for smooth functioning of the House of Commons and asked the Leader of the House and Leader of the Opposition to discuss the matter.
But neither the government nor the opposition is willing to ease up.
The government has accepted the opposition’s view that the unruly behavior of the MPs took place in the previous session, meaning that they cannot be suspended from this session under the Rajya Sabha rules.
“However, they want the suspended members to apologize one by one in the House of Commons but they are not going to do anything like that,” Mr Kharge said.
An impasse hit the operations of both houses. During the third week of the Winter Session, Rajya Sabha’s productivity hit a low of 37.60% – pulling the House function for the first three weeks down to 46.70%.
Mr O’Brien’s tweet also indicated that Trinamool was willing to work with Congress on this issue, despite their growing differences.
Last week, the party’s absence was noted during an opposition strategy session called by Sonia Gandhi to resolve the issue. Besides the Congress, five opposition parties were also present at the meeting – Sharad Pawar’s National Congress Party, DMK, Shiv Sena, CPM and National Convention.
No reason was cited by either side for Trinamool’s absence.
Among those suspended are six MPs from Parliament, two from Parliament Trinamool and Shiv Sena, and two from Left parties – one each from the CPI and CPM.
