Party ’til you explode at Dhaba’s Punjabi food festival, The Claridges
What does a good night mean to you? For us foodies, it will be a delicious meal that will make us salivate. Right from the start to the dessert, everything hit the sweet spot and left us wanting more. If you are looking for scrumptious food to enjoy, we have just what you need. The iconic Dhaba restaurant at The Claridges Hotel, New Delhi hosted a 12-day Punjabi Food Festival. Customers can sample the amazing delicacies that Punjabi cuisine has to offer.
Guest Chef Harangad Singh runs this Punjabi Food Festival at Dhaba in Claridges. Known for his creativity and nostalgia for Indian food, he has curated a wide range of authentic dishes right from the heart of Punjab. He doesn’t leave any ice to serve you, and explains in depth the origin and spice of every dish. The wait staff and outstanding service compliment the sumptuous meal.
When we arrived, we were treated for the first time Sukke Kale Chane and Pinni Da Halwa – comfort and simple dishes with a signature Punjabi combination of sweetness and spice that whet our appetites. Of those who welcome vegetarians, we tried Bharwan Paneer Tikka, Dahi Kebab and Bhutte Matar di Tikki. Each snack is carefully prepared with selected spices.
Of the non-vegetarian section we sampled Lahori Murgh Tikka, Tawe Aali Champaan and Amritsari Macchi. The tender, juicy and tender meats simply melt in the mouth. A special mention for the side dishes – mint chutney, sticky papaya chutney, papad aam chutney and of course, lots of onions.
Coming to the main course, the chef prepared a Cooked meat it is a nostalgic Sunday preparation in Punjabi households. A semi-dry preparation of shrimp, Jhinga Tawa Masala cooked in spices from Karachi. Both dishes were quite enjoyable! In the vegetarian section, Ghutwa Palak Wadi Had the Urad Dal based Crispy Vadis served in a spinach sauce.
The Tarachand Paneer Bhurji was also on the menu – a famous and legendary dish with creamy and addictive. No Punjabi meal is complete without Amritsari Maa Dal Cook with ginger and top with clarified butter. Some breads like Naans, Rotis and Parathas are paired with a power source.
For dessert, we tried the classic Kheer and Dudh Jalebi to end the divine meal on a sweet note. It is truly a feast for the senses! So, if you want to enjoy the deliciousness of a hearty Punjabi meal that will make you burst with happiness, head to the Punjabi Food Festival in Dhaba.
