Passenger dies on board, US-Bound Air India flight returns to Delhi
New Delhi:
An Air India flight to Newark in the US turned back to Delhi airport three hours after take-off after a passenger died on board.
An Air India official told the ANI news agency: “Air India’s Delhi-Newark (US) flight returned to Delhi after more than three hours of flight, due to the medical emergency on board.”
A team of airport doctors arrived on the plane and, after a thorough examination, the passenger declared him dead. Passenger with US nationality traveling with his wife.
“On December 4, flight AI-105 from Delhi to Newark returned due to the death of a male passenger, a US citizen, who was traveling with his wife to Newark,” an airport official said. Bay told the news agency.
The flight landed safely at Delhi airport and in accordance with the Flight Time Limit (FDTL) norms, another batch of crew will be reassigned to the flight operations.
“The same plane with new crew members is expected to take off at around 4pm,” the official added.
The whole incident has been reported to the Airport Police for further legal proceedings.
