Sumner Patrick “Pat” Terry, former president of Purebred record, died peacefully in Lexington, KY on December 14. He was 78 years old. A commercial attorney after serving five years in the Navy, Terry purchased Purebred record in 1980 with partners John Sparkman and Bill DuPont and chaired it until 1988. He is the adopted son of former Domino Stud WB owner “Bill” Terry, Sr., and was Domino’s vice president for Ken T. Jones after the ranch was sold in 1989. An owner of racehorses and mares, Terry owned and resided at Poplar Hill Ranch in Lexington during the 80’s.
Terry before the death of his father Harold Harris Denery (1945); mother Frances LaVerne Schnasse Terry (2009); adoptive father WB “Bill” Terry (2009); and brother William Michael Terry (2018). He is survived by his wife, Barbara; two brothers, Warren (Dianne) and Tim (Flo); His three children, Laura Marie Terry Bruder (Barry Bruder), Kevin Patrick Terry (Michele LaCroix Terry) and meadow Theresa Terry; five grandchildren, Ruby Sidney Bruder, Skyler Frances Bruder, Patrick Benjamin Terry, Amelia Grace Terry and Alexis Rose Terry; and lots of nieces and nephews.
A public visit will be held on Thursday, December 30 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Milward-Man O’War, 1509 Trent Blvd. A private service and prayer will be held for the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested a gift for the Alzheimer’s Association.
