Three separate versions of Pinocchio will launch our screens in 2022, but the greatest has already been decided. Tom Hanks’ and Guillermo del ToroThe repetitions of the classic fable will pale in comparison to the glorious dubbing performed by…Pauly Shore (???) for Russia’s Pinocchio: A True Story.
Lionsgate release went viral with its trailer back in late January, thanks to Shore’s classically drawn vowels and sarcastic voice paired with the often chatty young wood boy. As soon as viewers heard the first “magic” sound in his voice, the low-budget film went viral like wildfire.
“Father,” Pinocchio groans in the trailer. “When can I leave here to put on my clothes? I have the whole world to see! ”
Based on his unexpected vocal style, let’s say, Shore takes on the announced character – my dear, I’m sure – “Fruit Pinocchio.”
You may recall this first look at the movie from about two months ago, but now the movie has finally been released. That’s exactly what the trailer teased, too: utterly ludacris, embarrassing, and almost impossible to believe it’s real – but utterly amusing. The people on Twitter didn’t waste time coming back Pinocchio: A True Story into an instant cult classic.
By far the most popular clip is still the clip from the trailer, but many new additions have bolstered Pauly Shore’s Pinocchio’s popularity. In one clip, Pinocchio says to his talking horse, Tibbles: “Yes, Tibbles,” he says, with a slight smirk. “I have a special, most cherished dream!” Of course, it’s more interesting if you listen to it, what you can (and must) do here:
Tibbles (magical name for a horse, may I add) surface in another viral clip. There, Pinocchio hugs his father Gepetto (“Of course Dad”) and walks out the window to escape. There is no way to describe the noise he makes when he launches himself through the window: is it “EE, skedee, skedee skedee”? Or is it one of the most used “sksksk” sounds in the keyboard slamming response? Either way, WHAT. TO BE. GOING ON.
The list goes on and on: Pinocchio fell into the depths of hell, an Italian cat screams “Mother Mia!” before filming Pinocchio, Pinocchio is suspiciously charming. A popular Google search for the movie is: “Is the new Pinocchio movie real?” Yes. That is. This clip is from a Russian animated film that was released just a few days ago and although adults have found it hilarious on social media, the film was originally made for children.
Pauly Shore’s voice has blessed animated movies like A silly movie and Big tripBut Pinocchio: A True Story prove that he is a virtuoso art master. The English dub version of the Russian family drama also features Jon Heder (aka Napoleon Dynamite) and Tom Kenny (aka Spongebob). Anyone using this thing deserves multiple Academy awards.
