Phoebe Robinson’s ‘Everything’s Trash’ TV Series Arrives at the Perfect Time
On a day like today, in the middle of a month like this, in a year like this year, we can use a program titled Trash of everything. Everything To be trash, thanks Supreme Court and lot other injustices rolling through our world. At least Phoebe Robinson here to bring us some laughs with trailer for her new Freeform series.
Trash of everything It’s not just the title of the show — we actually have a concept of a show in a show that’s happening here. Robinson plays Phoebe, a fictional version of herself: a podcast host with a massive fan base and an empty bank account. If only the former could solve the problem of the latter.
“Life is hard. And you’re doing the best you can,” Phoebe narrates, via podcast, in the trailer. “Excellent Black is a bitch, isn’t he?”
A lot of heckling ensued — Phoebe had to go to the corporate event in bright clothes; she catches emotions; she faces off against strongly offensive white men in the podcasting room next door — but according to the show’s official description, the series will focus on her brother’s political campaign. She will have to start insulting if she wants to see him succeed.
The show is based on Robinson’s book of essays titled Everything is Trash, But It’s Okay. Along with several other bestsellers, Robinson is best known for comedy, although she has also appeared on Wide city, Search sideand 2 Dope Queens.
Robinson leads and executive produces the show along with host Jonathan Groff (no, not Glee star; we are talking about Black-ish Writer). Trash of everything also stars Jordan Carlos, Toccarra Cash, Nneka Okafor and Moses Storm.
Trash of everything will premiere the first two episodes on Freeform on July 13.
