Photo of plane “falling down” Prevents users of Google Maps
A photo showing a passenger plane that crashed in Australia has confused Google Maps users. It was first spotted and posted on social media by an eagle-eyed Maps user then and it started to gain traction. In the image, the plane appears to be completely intact in the Cardwell Range, located near the Queensland coast, according to new.com.au. Authorities added that the plane had no markings and was not on any known flight path. The photo also suggests that the plane was flying much lower than expected.
It also cites the Australian Transport Safety Bureau as saying that there are no reports of any missing passenger planes.
Based on New York Postthe plane appears to be a standard Airbus A320 or Boeing 737.
Australian traffic safety officials said it was possible it was a glitch in Google’s software. “There seems to be a phenomenon called ghost imagery and that could be it,” the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority told the Cairns Post.
Google has so far not made any statement about this.
A similar incident took place in 2016 when users claimed that a plane was lying on the bottom of Lake Harriet in the US state of Minnesota. But Google later announced this was a “ghost” photo – a compilation of several satellite images that appeared on the website.
Earlier this year, a ghost island on Google Maps left scientists completely baffled. The island, located between Australia and Sandy Island, is said to be 24 kilometers long and 5 kilometers wide but devoid of any land.
The aforementioned island was first published in Captain James Cook’s Chart of Discoveries in the South Pacific in 1776. Exactly one hundred years later, in 1876, a ship went hunting and whaling. named Velocity was also reported. see the island.
