A 31-year-old physics teacher has been arrested in Coimbatore following the death of a Year 12 student he allegedly sexually assaulted earlier this year.
There has been a public outcry in the city after WhatsApp chats and an audio chat, which NDTV could not independently verify, went viral suggesting the same teacher sexually abused them. sex two other female students.

Police also arrested the principal of a private school for not following the girl’s complaint, as required by law to prevent child sexual abuse.

Only recently, several teachers from prominent schools in Chennai were arrested after current and past students were accused of sexual harassment. In some of those cases, senior management is said to have chosen to cover up despite reports of sexual abuse they know of.
