Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro Fix ghost calling through latest Google app
The Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have received a fix for the ghost calling bug reported earlier this month. The issue caused the Google Assistant to make random phone calls on the new Pixel phones. Google fixed the bug on the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro by releasing an update to the pre-loaded Google app. The new update comes just days after Google added heart rate monitoring to the Pixel 6 series through the Google Fit app.
Pixel community manager confirmed fix call error. It has been implemented through the latest Google Apps (version 12.43.18 or later) that is Available for download through Google Play. You can also get the updated Google app by downloading the app APK file available through APKMirror.
Ghost call error start to impact some Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro users immediately after the launch of the new phone. Some users have reported problems with random calls to their contacts even when their Pixel phone is not in use. Google Assistant was found to be the reason for the ghost calls – by mishearing the ‘Hey Google’ hotword trigger sound following the command to make a call to the phone book.
Some affected users note that the issue can be manually fixed by disabling the ‘Lock Screen Assistant’ feature. However, that leaves the Google Assistant unresponsive unless the phone is unlocked.
Last week, Google begins rolling out heart rate and respiratory monitoring features through the Google Fit app. Both of these features are already available on the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a.
Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro also affected by fingerprint scanner problem still unresolved by Google. In some cases, the new Pixel models seem to unlock screen even when using unregistered fingerprint. The fingerprint scanner also seems to cause an unusual delay in unlocking the device.
