Piyush Goyal outlines India’s roadmap for $250 bn textile production
Goyal stressed the importance of an integrated approach to invigorate the textile industry, calling on officials to come up with innovative ideas and focus on reforming the institutional structure for better service delivery. The textile ministry said in a press release that the need for global competition was a key point in its interaction.
Chintan Shivir brought together officials from across the country, facilitating panel sessions on five key topics: export promotion, investment, construction scale and scale, sustainability, and the transition from natural to man-made fibres. The groups presented detailed recommendations and solutions to the various challenges facing the industry.
India’s Minister of Textiles, Trade and Industry, Piyush Goyal, chaired a strategic discussion at the Chintan Shivir event, setting out a roadmap to reach US$250 billion in textile production and US$100 billion in exports by 2030. Goyal emphasized the need for innovative ideas, institutional reforms and a holistic approach to enhance global competitiveness.
Union Textiles Minister, Darshana Jardosh, opened the session, highlighting the importance of the textile industry for India’s economic growth. She calls for collective interest in nurturing growth in all segments of the value chain.
