Pokemon Go Enters Metaverse With Ed Sheeran’s In-Game Performance, Sunglasses Squirtle Returns
Pokemon Go has announced that it is collaborating with British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran. A special in-game performance by Ed Sheeran will be available on the Pokemon Go app starting November 22 as part of the celebration of the release of his new album titled “=” (Equals). The show will feature songs from his new album as well as some of his popular songs. Also during this event, Pokemon Totodile, Mudkip, Piplup and Oshawott will appear in the wild. Trainers can also find Squirtle wearing sunglasses as well as Froakie.
Niantic and the Pokemon Company team announced new concert with Ed Sheeran via a blog post. As mentioned, the performance is part of the release of his latest album Equals. This is the first time the popular location-based game has teamed up with a popular singer. Pokemon Go Players can listen to Ed Sheeran’s latest hits and tracks including Perfect, Bad Habits, Overpass Graffiti, Thinking Out Loud, First Time and Shivers from the in-game news section during the event.
The pre-recorded performance will be available through Pokemon Go for eight days starting from November 23 to December 1. Additionally, players will be notified on how to watch the video via in-game news. In some countries, players can also click on sponsored bubble ads in Pokemon Go.
Throughout the show, the player can find the in-game Squirtle wearing sunglasses. They can also redeem a special code for an exclusive in-game avatar item in Pokemon Go featuring the cover art of Ed Sheeran’s latest album, which he wore during his special gig. The code can be redeemed using the Pokemon Go mobile game available on Google Play and by Apple App Store from November 22nd, as mentioned, along with the show, Pokemon Totodile, Mudkip, Piplup and Oshawott will regularly appear in the wild. All Pokemon will be available in shiny variants.
