Post-fight drama: De La Hoya criticizes Hearn's Pep Talk, paints a grim future for Haney
Promoter Oscar De La Hoya has lashed out at Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn on social media in response to him speaking to defeated fighter Devin Haney following his loss to Golden Boy fighter Ryan Garcia last Saturday night in Brooklyn, New York.

Oscar has no sympathy: That beating will leave its mark
Hearn posted a photo of himself hugging WBC lightweight champion Haney (31-1, 15 KOs) and included some words of support. However, De La Hoya doesn't see it as an easy road back for Haney, who has been beaten and it will be difficult for him to bounce back.
“The road is still long. This young man will come back stronger than ever! @realdevinhaney,” said Eddie Hearn above Instagramtrying to lift the spirits of defeated fighter, Devin Haney after his loss to Ryan Ryan Garcia last Saturday night.
Ryan Garcia's promoter, Oscar De La Hoya's response to Hearn: “It's obvious you've never laced up the gloves…You don't know what it's like to fight inside the ring. Guess what? I did and that beating would last a long time.”
Haney: 140 lb ocean shark bait
De La Hoya is telling the story like this, painting a grim picture of Haney's comeback after this loss. Oscar knows from experience that it won't be easy for Devin, as he is now the equivalent of wounded prey in the 140-pound division, which is filled with predatory sharks, who will surround him, looking to finish the job Ryan Garcia started.
Haney will have to make a lot of changes to his game or his return won't be as smooth. Devin says he wants to keep his WBC lightweight championship and that means he'll have to defend it against his mandatory Sandor Martin next.
I think it's another loss for Haney unless he wants to pay Sandor a step up to temporarily take him out while he rebuilds. Sandor is so skillful with his skills and the sneaky right hook he uses. He has defeated Teofimo Lopez twice and is said to have beaten him in their fight in 2022.
