Prada’s Spring 2023 Show Review
Storm Reid joins the fun at Milan Fashion Week, attended Prada’s show at Fondazione Prada on Thursday, September 22. Dressed from head to toe by the Italian luxury label, Reid revealed some skin in a silver chain mini dress. covered in reflector. A pair of high heel sandals and a bag with a black top handle accentuate the stylish look. Also in attendance, Hunter Schafer styled a black turtleneck with a silky mini skirt, a long pink and white gingham shirt, and a brown outerwear. Meanwhile, Michaela Coel wore a sheer metallic jacket over a white logo print dress and a boxy brown oversize leather jacket.
The creative collaboration of Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons has resulted in another fascinating collection entitled “Touch of Crude.” On a runway Models rolled out brown carpets, walked to the beat of sci-fi music, eccentric faces with long eyelashes that seemed to obscure their vision. The self-introduction show opened in a dark gray tailored suit, consisting of a long coat layered over a button-down shirt and skinny pants. The catwalk explores themes of work and home life, borrowing elements from previous collections to present them in the ugly-chic style that Prada excels at. For example, a range of dark and vibrant dyes seem to drip from lace-up gowns, dresses and skirts as if the designers intentionally created an unfinished look. Likewise, a range of knit suits with rough edges and wrinkled accessories have expanded on that sentiment.
Elsewhere, the absolute test establishes Miuccia’s trend from Fall 2022 collection reappears, taking on the look of classic dresses, nightgowns, turtlenecks, and coats. And Simons’ historic penchant for leather works to the fullest in crisp coats that blend nicely with Prada’s heritage.
