The 2022 Mazda MX-5 The convertible has lost the entry-level 1.5-liter 4-cylinder option, but has gained a few extra features.

Prices go up from $400 to $1700, depending on variant, with ranges now starting at $37,790 before on-road expenses give Roadster 2.0 liter manual.

Mazda has introduced its newly developed Kinetic Posture Control (KPC), integrated into the suspension system across the entire 2022 MX-5 lineup.

The system is said to generate anti-lift at the rear by braking the rear rear wheels inside during cornering at higher G-forces, thereby reducing rolling and pushing the body into a more stable position.

It seems to be built on Mazda’s G-Vectoring all-wheel drive system, which cuts engine torque as much as possible to transfer vehicle weight and improve stability during rapid directional changes.

The KPC system can apparently determine the “turning conditions” in real time from the speed difference between the left and right rear wheels, and increase its operation in a linear fashion to “generate and proper postural stabilization effect”.

Mazda says nothing has changed for everyday driving situations, but the harder you drive, the more the MX-5 corrects its turning posture.

In addition to this KPC system, all MX-5 2022 models now have driver attention monitoring, lane departure warning, rear parking sensors, rear automatic emergency braking ( AEB) and LED daytime running lights.

A new color called Platinum Quartz Metallic will be offered across the entire range, while a new Nappa Terracotta leather option is available for the RF GT trim.

Engine

Powering the entire Mazda MX-5 2022 range is one SkyActiv-G 2.0 liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine manufacturing 135kW power and 205Nm of torque.

This engine is mated to a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. All models are rear-wheel drive.

For the 2022 model year, the naturally aspirated 1.5-liter four-cylinder has been removed from the range.

The published combined cycle fuel economy figures of the Mazda MX-5 for 2022 are as follows:
