Primary Wave strikes multi-million-dollar music rights deal with Neil Finn of Crowded House
Primary wave Music has reached a music rights agreement with singer, songwriter and musician Neil Finn, a founding member of rock band Crowded House.
Described by Primary Wave as a “multi-million dollar deal”, the publisher said the deal would see the company acquire Finn's music publishing portfolio and the writer's public performance for his work with Crowded House, as well as his solo material.
As one of the founding members of Crowded House, Finn wrote and composed many of the band's biggest hits that were included in this new partnership, as well as the solo material and songs he wrote. as part of New Zealand pop/new wave band Chia Enz.
Songs included Better go home early, Don't dream that everything is over, The weather is with you and others.
Released in 1986, Don't dream it's all over appears on Crowded House's debut album of the same name.
Written by Finn, the single became the band's biggest hit and peaked at number 2 on the Hot 100. The song also reached number 1 in several countries.
Also included in this deal is Finn's share in the The weather is with you, was written with his brother Tim from the band's third studio album. The song was one of the band's most successful singles and won several awards upon release.

Primary Wave's latest offers arrive two months after the company announced its partnership with YMCA Village People hitmaker.
Earlier that month (February), the Primary Wave moved into Brazil through acquisition of a 50% shares in the Nas Nuvens Portfolio (NNC). That transaction valued the Sao Paulo-based company at approx 100 million USD.
