Prime Minister Modi, Biden’s virtual meeting tomorrow, will evaluate bilateral cooperation

Amid frenetic diplomacy and growing pressure from the West over India’s oil contracts with Russia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to meet US President Joe Biden on Monday.
“The two leaders will review ongoing bilateral cooperation and exchange views on recent developments in South Asia, the Indo-Pacific region and global issues of mutual interest.” a media release said.
This virtual meeting will allow both sides to continue their regular and high-level engagement with the aim of further strengthening the bilateral Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.
This interaction will be followed by the fourth India-US 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue led by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Foreign Minister Dr S Jaishankar towards India and his US counterpart, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Secretary of State Antony Blinken. The two Indian ministers will also have other meetings scheduled on the sidelines.
“The 2+2 Ministerial Meeting is an important opportunity to advance our shared goals across the broad spectrum of the US-India Strategic Partnership, including strengthening people-to-people ties and cooperation. education partnerships, building diverse, resilient supply chains for critical and emerging technology, expanding climate action and public health partnerships, and developing trade and invest to enhance the well-being of working families in both countries,” said a spokesperson for the US State Department’s Office two days ago.
The dialogue is also an opportunity to highlight the growing major defense partnership between the United States and India, the statement said.
