Raj Parker Named to Board of BHA
Raj Parker, a specialist in sport law and management, has been appointed to the Board of the British Horse Racing Authority (BHA). Parker will begin his new role as a non-executive independent CEO on 1 January 2022 and will replace Sir Paul Stephenson, whose term expires on New Year’s Eve. Currently, Parker is a senior counsel at the Financial Conduct Authority and has handled numerous investigations involving integrity issues.
BHA President Annamarie Phelps said, “We are delighted to welcome Raj to the Board of Directors. His extraordinary experience in sports regulation and law matters will be a valuable asset to the Board and to the sport.
“We are also extremely grateful for Sir Paul Stephenson’s contributions to the sport during his six years at the BHA. He has played a key role in a period of significant change when it comes to regulation and compliance in British racing. He was a man of integrity who was always respected and appreciated by everyone on the Council. ”
Raj Parker added, “I am extremely excited to join the BHA Board of Directors at this special time, and to join the equestrian industry. I look forward to helping the Governing Board with its commitment to effective regulation and integrity and ensuring that the sport continues to be clean, fair and well regulated. ”
