Music Sony The Middle East has appointed Rami Mohsen as its new CEO.
With over 20 years of experience, Mohsen will oversee strategy and operations in one of the fastest growing music markets in the world.
The appointment comes at a time when the MENA region has the third highest growth rate in the world in 2022, with recorded music revenue growing 23.8% to $94 million, according to the report. IFPI Global music report 2023.
Streaming accounts for the majority of the market, accounting for 95.5% of total revenue.
Mohsen started his career at Nogoum FM, where he rose to become the Network Manager of Nogoum FM & Nogoum FMTV.
In that role, he successfully managed radio programming, produced music and oversaw the operations of leading radio stations in Egypt and the Middle East.
During his tenure, Mohsen established the NRP production unit that enables in-house content creation. The vertical integration of content production also led to the establishment of Nogoum Records, now recognized as one of the top music labels in the MENA region.
Prior to joining Sony Music Middle East, Mohsen also served as Head of Music – Middle East, North Africa & South Asia Division at Spotify.
In this capacity, he is credited with leading Spotify’s music and content strategies, as well as enhancing the company’s standing in the MENA region.
