Range Media Partners secures funding from Liberty Global, TPG Chair David Bonderman and others
Music, film and television management and production company Range Media Partners has received a minority investment from a group of investors including Free Global and the family office of TPG Chairman David Bonderman.
This new capital, like reported via Diversity on Monday (April 22), will advance Range's strategic growth and acquisition initiatives.
The investor group includes subsidiaries of Liberty Global; an investment fund advised by Bonderman's Wildcat capital Management; CAA; Evolutionary media capital alum Rick Hess; And Forest Road Asset Management LLC. Notably, the group also has Playground productiona STEM-focused family entertainment company headed by a former educator Lindsay Barnett.
Liberty says it has one 3 billion USD portfolio, more spread out 75 technology, content and infrastructure companies.
Range Media, founded in late summer 2020, has been counted Steven A. Cohen'S Point72 joint venture And A+E Network among its investors. Point 72 is noteworthy co-leader New York-based music AI tech startup Hook's 3 million USD seeding round in October.

Since its launch, Range has actively expanded its operations. It merged with the film production company automation, strengthening its film division. It also focuses on growth in Sports range, gathering expertise and companies in media rights, athlete marketing and golf. Additionally, Range Music expands with a new feature Music publishing branch and an office in Nashville.
In June 2021, Range Media Signed a worldwide distribution agreement with Capital music group (CMG) and Virgin Music & Artist Brand Services.

As part of the deal, Hess will join Range's administration as Forest Road's representative, Diversity report. ACF Investment Bank advised the group of investors, with Greenberg Traurig provide legal advice. Cooley served as legal counsel for Liberty, while Jones Day representing Range Media Partners.
